Roberta Galarini graduated in Industrial Chemistry (cum laude) at the University of
Bologna in 1989. In 1988, she had won the Award for Chemistry Students promoted by
Federchimica (Milano). Later, she took a Specialization Degree in Food Chemistry and
Technology at University of Perugia (2000).
Since 1994, she works at Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Umbria e delle Marche
“Togo Rosati” (Perugia) as director of official chemistry laboratories devoted to residue
analysis in food. Starting from 2012, she is mainly involved in research activities
coordinating the Center for Development of Analytical Methods. Her research interests
include multiresidue method optimization for the determination of xenobiotics at trace
levels in food and environmental matrices, data analysis, validation approaches and
accreditation requirements for testing laboratories. She is member of the Board of Mass
Spectrometry Division of the Italian Chemistry Society (2017 - to date). She coordinated
National Funded Projects and developed experience in teaching activities and MS/PhD
thesis students supervision. She has been member of the training staff of EU Programme
BTSF (Better Training for Safer Food) - Veterinary Medicinal Products (2015-2016; 2017-
2018), as expert in method validation complying with Commission Decision 2002/657/EC.
Seven book chapters, 145 contributions at national and international conferences and
more than 90 papers in international ISI journals (H Index 25 - Scopus), document her
scientific production.
